May 29, 2007
Dear Parents,
As I begin my new role as Director of Education for Temple Shalom of the South Bay, I have been given the task of designing my ‘First 100 Days”. The gauntlet having been tossed, I can think of no more important way to begin than meeting with the families of Temple Shalom to learn about your needs, interests and concerns as we plan not only for 2007 2008, but for our future growth as a synagogue.
During the intensive interview process I was most impressed with Temple Shalom’s commitment to creating a community which embraces spiritual, intellectual, personal growth and social action as its core foundation. It is these values that must drive the goals of our religious school. Integral to this will be to ensure that our curriculum is sound in content, Judaic practice, Hebrew acquisition, B’nai Mitzvah preparation and immergence into the community as responsible young adults.
Facilitating our goals requires that we provide challenging and engaging classroom experiences. This requires our faculty to practice excellence in teaching strategies and classroom management. With your input, reflections on past practices and envisioning goals for the future, together we will create a program that will provide a rich and meaningful Judaic experience that meets the learning needs of all children and adults.
Beginning July 9th, I will be scheduling meetings to meet you, share ideas, hear your concerns and look toward our future. Please complete and return the attached form so that I can begin to schedule our meetings.

Our synagogue desires to be a sanctuary of Jewish living and life long learning. I am honored to have been selected to be your Director of Education to share this journey with you and your families.
B’Shalom
